NRL In League in Harmony Program

Jared and Bob were in Tiger Town, that’s the NRL West Tigers training facility, to deliver a workshop that supports the NRL In League in Harmony Day - a program to promote social cohesion - empowering youth to be agents of change for a more cohesive society.

The students, from different backgrounds and walks of life, were treated to a behind the scenes training session of the West Tigers Players.

The students then moved indoors where they participated in some team challenges. One of these challenges was to design a zoo. The activity aimed to cultivate leadership skills, enhance communication, promote teamwork and have fun. Teams had to allocate spaces for different animal exhibits, consider the needs of visitors; including entry cost and parking and incorporate an education center. As teams developed their zoo’s, we noticed some students had the opportunity to voice their ideas, fostering a sense of inclusion and respect for diverse perspectives.

Next up was the rap challenge. Teams had to write and perform a team rap that includes specific words. Some of these words included, unite, excite, inspire, leadership and culture.Teams brainstormed shared values and experiences transforming them into verses that celebrated teamwork, resilience and unity. As the teams performed their rap’s the audience couldn't help but be moved as some students clearly showed that this was their time to shine.

Beyond the applause and cheers the workshop left an incredible mark, fostering a sense of belonging and reinforcing the idea that, like a well-crafted rap, teams thrive when each member contributes their unique strengths and diverse ideas.

Mirri Mirri would like to thank Lino Salafai, Program Coordinator of the NRL In League in Harmony for allowing us to be apart of an awesome day.
