In January 2024, the University of New South Wales (UNSW) hosted 26 young Indigenous leaders from across Australia for the annual week-long Indigenous Youth Leadership Camp. Mirri Mirri was invited along on day 1 of the camp to run a series of workshops that helped students bond whilst also developing in areas including culture, leaderships and confidence.

After completing a range of ‘Australian Survivor’ influenced challenges, students were able to learn about some incredible First Nations UNSW Alumni including Larissa Behrendt, Kirsten Banks and James Ward, leaders in fields including law, astronomy and medicine. This provided a chance for students to learn about university and the opportunities that a tertiary education provides.

We want to thank UNSW for allowing us to come along and hang out with the students for the day. It was definitely a great way to start the year and we look forward to continuing the partnership in 2025.

Mirri Mirri acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land which we work, live and play. We acknowledge the wonderful elders who provide guidance, wisdom and care. We also acknowledge it is our responsibility to continue informing about First Nations peoples, cultures and histories in a manner that is respectful of those who have come before us.
