Adam Goodes and Michael O’Loughlan may be recognised as amongst the greatest to have played the game of AFL, but away from the field their work is just as inspiring.
Establishing the GO Foundation in 2009, Adam and Michael, with the help of some amazing staff, support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to realise their dreams through mentorship and exposure to a range of initiatives. And that’s where we come in.
It was a huge honour for Mirri Mirri to be engaged by the GO Foundation to deliver a number of programs to students in the Sydney region. Beginning with high school students, we immersed them in cultural activities at Kimberwalli and the NCIE, where they had an opportunity to throw spears, do traditional fire making, participate in a racism workshop and continue their learning about Aboriginal culture through story-telling and activities.
Whilst it was great hanging with the big kids, it was the primary kids that really won us over. Hosted at Admiralty House, we spent the fun day telling stories, getting the students up and dancing, playing music and having them participate in traditional games. Yes the weather was hot, but nothing compared to the heat they brought to the team challenges.
It was competitive, fun, but most importantly, a wonderful opportunity to bring together our next generation of leaders. A massive thank you to the GO Foundation for having us along to your events. We are really appreciative and proud of the partnership and look forward to having lots more fun with your staff and students.

Jared, Dean, and Paul with the Governor Sam Mostyn.
